Socotra Sparrow (Passer insularis): A small bird found mainly on Socotra. It is common across the island and often lives near human settlements.

Itinerary
After arriving on Socotra, you will leave Hadibo. Then travel towards Wadi Shoq and begin your first exploration of the Socotra birdwatching tour. The afternoon is for you to discover endemic birds of Socotra Island.
Continue to Khor Sirhin (Khor Sirhan) for an evening and night birdwatching. The most anticipated one is the Socotra Scops Owl. You may also see some coastal migrants.
Conclude today's Sirhin night birdwatching tour and camp at Wadi Shoq for tonight.

Start early and head to Ayhaft Canyon National Park (Wadi Ayhaft), one of the island's important freshwater habitats. The morning hours are ideal for bird activity. You will explore the canyon and its vegetation while observing wildlife. The freshwater pools provide a natural place to pause and observe birds drinking or feeding.
Then, you will travel to Qalansiyah, Socotra's second-largest town, where you can visit the estuary near the shore and the mangroves. You can look for possible habitats where egrets or waders might be found.
Next, you will head to Detwah Lagoon, a vital sanctuary for both resident marine birds and wintering migratory species. Spend the afternoon walking slowly along the mudflats. As the sun begins to set, capture the beautiful coast and various seabirds.

Today begins with a boat excursion from Qalansiyah towards Shoab Beach. Local fishermen accompany the journey. You can explore Socotra's spectacular western coastline, seabirds, and marine mammals. You may see dolphins along the way.
In the afternoon, venture to Diksam Plateau, where you can see thousands of Dragon's Blood Trees and Socotra wildlife. Continue to delve deeper into Firmhin Forest, famous for its extraordinary Dragon's Blood Trees forest. These ancient, umbrella-shaped trees create one of the most distinctive landscapes on the island and provide habitat for several endemic birds.

Accommodation: Camping at Firmhin Forest
After breakfast, set out for Wadi Madieruh from Firmhin Forest. You will hike along the Hajhir Mountain range for approximately 3 kilometers.
It is recommended to wear hiking boots and bring sufficient drinking water. The slopes along the way are quite steep, and the terrain is mainly composed of rocks and rugged paths. During the hike, you need to slow down. Besides Socotra Bunting, you can also keep an eye out for other unique bird species and mountain wildlife along the way.
After the birdwatching hike, you will return to Firmhin Forest for a second night beneath the Dragon’s Blood Trees.

Today, you will travel from the plateau through the lush canyon, and then reach the sandy dunes and coastline in southern Socotra. Your first stop is Dagub Cave, which offers dramatic limestone formations.
Next, you will travel to Zahaq & Hayf Dunes, where the white sand dunes stretch all the way from the inland to the seaside. You can enjoy the stunning beach and spend time on wildlife observation. Continue to Aomak Beach, where you will spend the night with breathtaking views and clear waters.

This morning, you will leave the southern coast and travel eastwards towards the island's highlands. You will first visit Kalysan Canyon (Wadi Kalissan). The canyon provides a combination of rocky cliffs, vegetation, and freshwater pools, making it a great location for birdwatching.
Then continue towards the Homhil Protected Area, one of Socotra's most spectacular highland landscapes. Focus on Socotra's endemic species, including Socotra Sunbird, Socotra Starling, and Socotra Warbler.
Later in the day, travel to Arher Beach & Dunes, where you can climb up the top of the huge sand dunes and admire the views of the Arabian Sea, creating one of Socotra's most spectacular landscapes. The evening will be spent around the beach and dunes.

Today, you will embark on a hiking tour to Hoq Cave. It takes about 1.5 hours to hike to the entrance. From the entrance, you can enjoy beautiful sea views. Then venture into the cave. Inside Hoq Cave, the exploration continues for approximately 3 km. You can discover several kinds of birds, such as the Socotra Sparrow and Socotra Warbler.
After the cave exploration, you will return to Hadibo for our final night on the island.

This final morning is reserved for mop-up birdwatching, allowing you to revisit suitable habitats around Hadibo. After birdwatching, we visit local rock art and cultural sites.
